How to pick a Roblox game idea

A good first idea isn't the biggest one. It's one you can finish, and one players understand in a few seconds. Some rules of thumb:

• Start from a loop people already love. Simulators, tycoons, obbies and horror games are popular for a reason: the loop is fun. Your twist goes on top of it.
• Change one thing. A new setting, a new kind of creature, a new rule. "A tycoon" is generic; "a tycoon where you run a dragon hatchery" is an idea.
• Say it in one sentence. If you can't explain it in one sentence, it's probably three games.
• Plan your first update. Games grow with updates. Keep a list of things you'll add later instead of putting everything in version one.
• Make it yours. Being inspired by a popular game is normal; copying its name, characters or art isn't allowed. See how popular formats work to build your own take.
